That afternoon, they stayed late in the library again.
The sun was already setting outside, casting a warm glow through the windows.
Sharon closed her notebook. "I think we're finally done with the project."
"About time," Dylan said, stretching.
They both laughed.
Then silence filled the space between them.
A comfortable silence this time.
Dylan looked at her.
"Sharon…"
"Hmm?"
"There's something I've been meaning to tell you."
Her heart started beating faster.
"What is it?"
Dylan hesitated.
For once, he looked nervous.
"I just… I don't see you as—"
Before he could finish, a loud voice interrupted.
"Dylan!"
They both turned.
A girl stood at the entrance of the library, waving at him.
"I've been looking for you!" she said, walking over.
Dylan sighed slightly. "Hey, Kayla."
Sharon quickly looked away.
The moment was gone.
And whatever Dylan was about to say… disappeared with it.
