Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Pretending to be Young

"Quinn, you're dressed so simply. You're so beautiful, yet you don't dress up at all. It's such a waste," Yori said to Leticia with a hint of disappointment as they stood at the bus stop outside the residential complex, waiting for the bus to arrive.

She had thought she would see a different side of Quinn today, but Quinn was still the same; one look was enough for anyone to see her essence as a shut-in.

A white T-shirt with the word 'Demon King' printed in large characters on the back, paired with a pair of slightly loose trousers—this was Leticia's outfit for today.

"There's nothing to be disappointed about. On the other hand, Melanie, since when did you have a hobby of pretending to be young?" Leticia rolled her eyes. Currently, Melanie, who was standing next to her, was wearing what looked like a high school girl's uniform.

If Leticia remembered correctly, Melanie was at least twenty-five years old. To still wear such clothes at this age was truly shameless.

"You have a problem?" Melanie had her hands tucked into the pockets at her waist. Combined with her cold little face, she actually gave Leticia a faint sense of coolness.

"Because this was the only set of clothes I could find at home..." Yori explained in a small voice.

Melanie had very few clothes. Yori had searched for a long time before finding this one piece that was somewhat suitable for Melanie.

Although this outfit was the school uniform from back when Melanie was in high school, Yori was pleasantly surprised to find that after her sister put it on, she felt exactly the same as she did seven years ago.

It was as if her sister's time had been frozen at that most youthful and romantic moment of a young girl.

"Online shopping is so advanced now, you could totally buy clothes online, right?" Leticia offered her opinion. Even Luna bought clothes for her online.

"That would lack a sense of ceremony. Sister is finally home, so of course I have to take her out for a good stroll," Yori said seriously, counting on her fingers. "Sister has been gone for four years; many things here have changed."

"Mhm. The park over there has turned into an office building, and the nearby elementary school was torn down..." Melanie had a very good memory. On the way home, she had already noted the changes near their house one by one. "And, there's an extra neighbor I'm not too keen on seeing."

"Hey, look at how you're talking. If you're so capable, why don't you just move out?" Leticia was very annoyed. Why did she make it sound like Leticia was some universally loathed person? No matter what, Leticia was at least easy on the eyes, wasn't she?

Unlike this Melanie, who wore a sour face all day long.

"Stop arguing, you two!" Seeing the two girls about to bicker again, Yori quickly tugged at her sister's hem. "Look, the bus is here."

No wonder Quinn disliked her sister so much. With her sister's inability to speak properly, what girl could possibly tolerate her?

"Is it this one?" Leticia asked. Since moving here, she had almost never stepped out the door, so naturally, she didn't know where this bus led.

"Mhm, this is the one." Yori hopped onto the bus, pulled out her bus card, and swiped it three times on the reader.

"I didn't expect you to need your sister to pay for your bus fare," Leticia mocked.

"Aren't you the same?" Melanie retorted bluntly.

"Hmph."

There were many empty seats on the bus. Leticia naturally chose a window seat and sat down.

The two York sisters sat in front of her.

The bus started moving slowly, and the scenery before her eyes receded at a leisurely pace.

As time passed minute by minute, the scenery in Leticia's eyes changed from the somewhat deserted streets of before into a bustling metropolis.

"Central City..." Leticia compared the Demon Race's royal city in her memory with this city and found, somewhat helplessly, that in terms of architecture, the Demon Race's craftsmen were quite soundly defeated by the humans.

If only her Demon King City could be as prosperous and beautiful as this place.

Sitting in front of Leticia, Melanie also stared blankly out the window. In her memory, this had originally been just a small market. She hadn't expected that in just four years, it would become so prosperous.

"Garden Square Station, we have arrived..."

"Sister, Quinn, it's time for us to get off." Yori's voice woke the two girls from their respective thoughts.

As she stood up from her seat, Leticia said softly to Melanie, "Your results are quite impressive."

Melanie's pupils shook for a moment; she was very surprised that Leticia would actually praise her.

Immediately after, she shook her head coldly as usual. "I only did what I should have done."

She had merely done her best to keep conflict outside the Human World. As for these results, the credit should go to everyone here, not just her.

"Let's go, don't keep Leticia waiting."

"Tch." Leticia snorted. She had gone out of her way to praise this person, and yet she didn't react at all. How boring.

Following Melanie off the bus and looking at the bustling pedestrians on the street, Leticia couldn't help but frown.

Aren't there a bit too many people?

"Where are we going?" she asked.

Melanie's gaze drifted toward her younger sister; she would listen to her.

"A new shopping mall opened nearby recently, and they're having a promotion, so we're going there." Yori smiled as she took a flyer out of her small bag.
