'I don't have any dragon points....' Orsted stared blankly at the system notification.
In the first place, using 5,000 dragon points for something like that was out of question. He would rather use them to grow stronger and deal with Roswaal if he becomes an obstacle.
Knowing that now he could instantly end his life with [Rewrite], Orsted didn't feel much threat from Roswaal.
'What if my Reincarnation technique was mentioned in that gospel?....Annoying. I can only focus on growing stronger and be careful as to not be sealed away like Subaru and Satella.'
The system responded to his will.
[Your existence has been firmly recorded by the 'Tome of wisdom' (Gospel). The future side quest shall be slightly modified.]
After seeing this notification, Osted took his mind off the system.
[+1 dragon points]
The merchant watched Orsted with a stiff expression, his body shook with every change he saw in Orsted's movement. His hands were tightly clenched beside his body - he felt terror like never before.
Watching such a reaction, Orsted didn't find it strange.
Every living being would either come to fear or hate him in the end.
It wasn't a bad thing - a curse that he could use to spread his name and gather dragon points.
'....I will [Rewrite] it in the future, so that I can activate and deactivate it by will. Though I don't consider myself the lustful type - there are a few people I don't want fearing me at our very first meeting.'
And it would be dangerous if some of the stronger existence grew hostile, due to the curses effect.
"That...I'm very sorry about my ground dragon!" The merchant prostrated almost as if his life was on line.
Looking at the young brown haired man bowing towards him, Orsted raised his brows and glanced at the undamged carriage.
'He is somewhat smart.' Orsted made a redimental profile on the merchant in his head.
Weak body with no sign of training, vibrant clothes, but not lavish in any way. His reaction wasn't that of what Orsted predicted to be that of a experienced warrior either.
'....He is harmless.' Orsted concluded before speaking.
"Are you heading towards Banan?" Orsted spoke coldly with a frown. He hadn't focused on his voice before, but it really sounded perfectly like the original Orsted from 'Jobless reincarnation'.
"Huh...." The merchant raised his head, only to smash it back down after taking a closer look at Orsted.
"Its...! That's right, Sir!"
After a pause, Orsted spoke slowly: "Then, If You want to repay me - let me ride along till Banan and...."
Gulp!
The merchant stiffened waiting for Orsted's next words.
"Acquire me a durable sword." Orsted finished after thinking it through.
For now, using too much mana would lead to waste of his lifespan later to recover it. So using sword as the main weapon was the most rational choice.
'Personally, I like the novel feeling of using magic, but it can't be helped.'
The merchant didn't seemed to relax even after Orsted's easy request - his back still covered in sweat.
"Understood, sir!" The merchant led Orsted to sit within the carriage.
'From his reaction, No matter what I do, the fear others feel towards me wouldn't diminish.' Orsted analysed with a cold face.
It didn't appear like the merchant had any intention of giving his name, so Orsted took the lead.
"Dragon god, Orsted - that's my name, remember it well."
After all, Orsted wanted this merchant to spread his name further. He didn't want to miss out on even a single dragon point, no matter where it came from.
"Understood. it's Slouine...a merchant." Slouine introduced himself weakly, before going to treat the ground dragon.
After making place for himself, by moving the herbs and glass vials filled with unknown liquid, Orsted sat down and let his back relax.
'System....How much lifespan would I need to add an on and off switch to [Dragon tribe's curse].' Orsted inquired curiously.
[100 years.]
'It shouldn't be a problem then. For now, I can deal with it and use it to my advantage.'
He could collect dragon points by increasing his popularity and it seemed like the main source of dragon points, beside quests.
Travelling around the world and letting the [dragon tribe's curse] do it's thing was an option too. However, it was just too time consuming and tiresome.
To solidify his image as the Dragon god - Orsted needed achievements worthy of such title.
'A way to quickly spread my name throughout all the nations... It's either defeating a well known figure or the three great witchbeasts. Or wait...'
Zarestia - her name flashed by Orsted's mind. A character that left quite an impression on him, both in the original plot and in sloth if route.
Zarestia was one of the four great spirit and making a contract with her would instantly make Orsted famous throughout all the known nations. She was an existence that existed even before the dragons and witches.
Original, she possessed control over all four elements and could easily rank among the top five existence in this world. But due to an unforeseen betrayal, Zarestia lost all her power besides the wind element.
'Even with just her wind element, she stands on the same level as Puck, the spirit of the end. I might stick around Banan for while, I think.'
Orsted made up his mind without much hesitation, beside liking her in the novel, he felt he could gain a lot of dragon points by conquering her. For the first time in a while, he felt something akin to excitement.
Travelling to this world....might just not be a curse.
Just as Orsted began pondering on how to go about signing a contract with Zarestia and making her his own - He heard noises from outside.
"Graah!"
The ground Dragon resisted Slouine's control again, it's eyes turned to Orsted, the moment he moved outside to get a clear view.
"..." Orsted could easily see the overwhelming loyalty in the ground dragon's eyes. It walked towards him and began rubbing it's head on Orsted's arm.
"..." Slouine gazed blankly at the scene before him.
"Listen to him." Orsted ordered after a pause, he forgot for a second that any dragon blooded creature he defeated would turn eternally loyal towards him.
The ground dragon bowed it's head in obedience.
The carriage began moving soon after.
'Dragon god.....dragon god....Is THAT really the dragon god mentioned in the legends?' Slouine's mind couldn't stop thinking about the existence that rested behind him.
In his eyes, Orsted appeared like a bloodthirsty monster, who could show it's fang any moment. After watching his ground dragon's reaction, Slouine was mostly sure about the other party's identity as the [Dragon god].
Slouine didn't have the kind of training and mindset of a knight or warrior - who could overcome their inner fears. Just being near Orsted was a mental torture for him.
'Quickly, I need to quickly reach Banan and....escape.'
