[3rd POV]
What followed after telling her family about the twenty five thousand dollar dress, was a grilling. Claire had been particularly displeased when she heard that her daughter had bought a dress worth so much, while Phil was still shocked that someone could pay so much for a simple dress.
Cam had begged to see the dress, while comparing the price to buying new horses on his old ranch he had grown up on.
The dress itself was legitimately beautiful, but twenty five grand was...well, still absolutely bonkers.
Haley was not exactly happy that Billie had just totally aired that piece of information out, and was already thinking of ways to get her revenge. Ways that were equal in scale to what Billie had done to her.
But Haley knew that Billie was very very hard to prank. Like, harder than you'd think. She was very good at noticing small things, and was very very good at noticing her girlfriends current mental state.
Which was a good thing, obviously. But it made pranks and messing with her rather difficult.
She'd need to be very very creative, and would probably need to get some help. But the good thing is that she had a little brother that would be more than willing to help her out...for a few bucks.
But she didn't mind doing that, if it meant she could get some petty revenge on her girlfriend. She would need to find out what to do for it though.
She had time.
After the Dunphy's had finished grilling Haley for her less than financially smart decision, they had soon left on their own way. They had some things to do, and couldn't be there all day.
They did leave Haley there though, as the girl wanted to hang out with her girlfriend, even if she was a little annoyed at the teasing that she had been pushed under thanks to her.
And thanks to her being left with Billie, the two decided to do something that they had not done in quite some time. Since they had revealed themselves to the public eye, and now had to be a bit more careful when going around.
They had gone on a date. Or were on a date at least.
Deciding where to go for the date had been a bit of a conversation, as the two could not just go out shopping, or go to a restaurant. Not with their popularity, and the threat of paparazzi being an absolute pain in the ass.
So, they decided to go with something that they could reasonably do, and still enjoy without having to fear for the paparazzi ruining their experience. The choice ended up being...
A movie.
Not just any movie, but a drive in movie at one of those drive in theaters. The theater itself was actually owned by Billie, and had already been set up for the two of them. With the movie that they had chosen, being Star Wars: A New Hope.
A movie chosen because...Haley had never seen it.
Much to Billie's horror, she had found out that her girlfriend had never actually seen a Star Wars movie before, which was...terrifying. Cause who has never seen a Star Wars movie? That's crazy!
Haley was that person.
Which is why she was currently sat next to Billie, as they cruised through LA towards the drive in theater.
"I still cannot believe you have never seen a Star Wars movie before. Not even the Prequel trilogy?" Billie asked as she drove. Haley rolled her eyes slightly at her girlfriend.
"Nope. I've never seen any of them. They looked too...nerdy for me" Haley responded, causing Billie to look at her like she was crazy.
"...You are uncultured. But don't worry, I'll make you cultured. Because trust me, once you see this movie, you'll be wanting to watch more" Billie said, looking at Haley like she had just done something insane.
And in some way, she had.
"Mmhmm, whatever you say babe" Haley replied with a small amused smirk on her face, confident that she would not want to watch more of the weird show about aliens with "laser swords" as she called them.
And while Haley didn't really like sci-fi that much, she was still going to watch it. Simply because her girlfriend wanted to watch it with her, and wanted to experience it with her. So even if she didn't like the movie, at least she'd be able to enjoy it with Billie.
She was a good girlfriend like that.
Soon they pulled into the drive in theater, and like Billie had said, there was nobody else there. Just the two of them, which made it a lot more comfortable for them, as they got out of the car and moved to lay on the front of the car.
Billie had brought one of her more flat cars, so it wasn't a problem. And it'd take a hell of a lot more than two humans laying on the hood for anything to get damaged or something.
Laying, the two were soon approached by the worker, who was a woman that looked to be around the age of 25. She had a slightly awed look in her eyes, but was outwardly professional, as she had brought them their favorite snacks for movies.
As Billie had asked beforehand. She didn't want to make the woman stay too long, as she had already been paid her full salary for the day, as had everyone else that was told to leave. So it was essentially a paid day off for most of them.
Mostly because the drive in theater was open towards the evening, so they worked rather late into the day, and into the night.
Laying on the hood of the car, Billie slowly began to grin as she heard the iconic opening of Star Wars, as Haley laid next to her, watching it with a hum, munching on some caramel popcorn, her favorite type.
Billie preferred a simple popcorn with salt and butter. Nothing crazy. But she did have a rather...interesting taste in candies.
She liked chocolate covered raisins.
Something her girlfriend did not forget to comment on, as they silently watched the intro.
"Ugh...I cannot believe you like those things" Haley said, noticing Billie pop a few into her mouth.
Billie looked at her with fake hurt.
"Hey! I don't comment on your strange love for pickle flavored chips, so don't comment on my raisins" Billie responded.
"Yeah well pickle flavored lays taste good. Those just taste like sadness" Haley replied, a smile on her face as she and Billie continued to bicker while watching the movie.
"...For a movie from like 50 years ago, the quality isn't actually that bad" Haley couldn't help but comment, as Leia showed up in the movie for the first time. She also liked the clothes that Leia was wearing, they were pretty unique.
"For the time it was revolutionary. They had to make innovations in a ton of areas just to make the movie in the first place. And the movie came out in 1977, not in the 50s or 60s" Billie replied, agreeing. The movie still held up 30+ years later, and would continue to hold up for a long long time into the future.
It was one of the best movies ever made for a reason.
"Really? All that for just a sci-fi movie?" Haley asked in surprise, not knowing that little piece of information about the movie.
"Mmhmm, there's a lot of really cool facts about the Star Wars movies that I'm sure I'll be telling you sooner or later" Billie responded to her girlfriend, as Haley rolled her eyes again, before slowly returning to watch the movie, her eyes slowly but surely paying more and more attention to the movie and what was happening.
And as she watched her girlfriend begin to get absorbed into the story, Billie grinned openly, one thought on her mind.
'...Got her!'
