[3rd POV]
The next morning had come later on, with Haley waking up with a loud yawn. She stretched wide as she rubbed at her eyes, feeling the morning exhaustion that she always had when just waking up.
Looking around, Haley stopped when she noticed that Billie was no longer lying next to her. And that she was currently alone in the bed, and alone in the room. She wondered why Billie had left the room already, before she glanced at the clock.
Her eyes widened when she realized that it was actually ten in the morning, and was closer to eleven than ten. The sun was already up, and most people were already awake and hard at work or doing their day to day work.
Walking out of the room, Haley immediately began to seek out her girlfriend, to find out why she had not been woken up sooner. She had slept in for way too long at this point, and did not want to ruin her sleeping schedule even worse by sleeping until noon.
She found Billie sitting on her couch, watching an episode of Star Trek while drinking some coffee. A regular from her, Haley found. She had met only a handful of people that drank coffee as often as Billie did.
"Billie, why did you not wake me up?" Haley asked, as Billie blinked and turned to her girlfriend, a smile forming on her face as she noticed that she was finally awake.
"Because you were tired, babe. You stayed up for over thirty five hours. It's only natural that I'd let you sleep in longer so you can try to make up for that lack of sleep. Plus it's healthy to sleep in, Haley. Especially after you stay up for so long" Billie replied, not bothered by Haley's flash of annoyance.
She knew that she was only annoyed because she knew that Billie was right in this regard. That and she probably just didn't like waking up so late into the morning. Billie was the same, and preferred to wake up early in the morning.
Around five or six in the morning was her usual time in which she woke up. Although today she had woken up at eight in the morning, courtesy of going out on that date, and cuddling with Haley the entire night.
She was comfortable.
"Yeah well...next time I'd appreciate it if you woke me up a bit sooner. I don't want to ruin my sleeping schedule by sleeping in so late" Haley responded with a huff, hoping it hadn't been ruined.
"Haley, you stayed up for thirty five hours. You have kind of already ruined your sleeping schedule. And if I had woken you up sooner, you probably would have just taken a nap later into the day either way, so it wouldn't have really changed anything. If anything I might have helped keep your sleeping schedule somewhat controllable" Billie said.
She understood her annoyance, but she also knew that waking her up later was the better decision. Otherwise she might have been going to sleep in the evening and waking up late into the night or something.
And she didn't want to ruin her sleeping schedule to such a degree. It was a pain in the ass to fix afterwards.
"...Alright. Did you make anything to eat? I'm starving" Haley asked, her stomach grumbling slightly, as she hadn't eaten yet.
"Hmm? Yeah I've got some waffles on the counter made for you. You'll have to warm them back up and put some syrup on them, but everything else is already ready for you" Billie informed her, as Haley walked over and got her waffles.
She began to whip them up, warming them up in the microwave while putting a trickle of syrup on top.
Plopping down next to her girlfriend with the freshly warmed up waffles, Haley bit into them with a sigh. They tasted delicious even after they had gotten cold and needed to be warmed up.
Billie's waffles were some of her favorite breakfasts. Definitely better than her moms, which were...not particularly the best. And tended to be barely edible.
"Do we have any plans for day?" Haley asked, as she bit into another piece of waffle. She was hoping to stay over at Billie's for a bit longer, and the best way to do that was to have something to preoccupy her time with.
She didn't want to head home yet, especially not with her mom who was undoubtedly going to kick up a fuss over her sleeping schedule and her staying over at Billie's. Even if she had asked and gotten permission.
And Alex would bug her with her own questions too.
"Not really, no. I've been preparing for the Christmas that I'm hosting here with your family, but that's still weeks away, and we have to celebrate Thanksgiving before doing that" Billie replied with a shake of her head.
She didn't have much to do for the coming days.
"Really? No music or anything?" Haley asked in surprise. Billie rarely ever took a break from music and practiced in her art, so it was strange to see that she was taking a break like this.
"None. It's not healthy to constantly be working, Haley. So, I'm taking the day off to just relax and enjoy my life. I'll start working on my album again tomorrow. Maybe even decide which song I'll sing on Ellen" Billie replied.
"Have you decided which one you're going to go with? Or at least narrowed it down?" Haley asked, curious.
"Nope. I'm thinking Rolling in the Deep, but I don't know. It's hard to choose for this sort of thing, and the first song I do needs to make a lasting impression. One that will make it so that the album will be talked about more. But that's a pain in the ass to accomplish" Billie said, really not sure yet.
It was hard to decide.
"Personally I think Set Fire to the Rain is the one you should do" Haley responded.
"Really? Why?" Billie asked, raising an eyebrow at her girlfriends choice.
"No idea. I just think it fits as a first reveal more. It's more impactful than Rolling in the Deep. At least, that's what I personally think. But I also think this is kind of one of those things you just have to decide. I have no idea what a talk show even likes, so who knows" Haley replied with a shrug.
Billie hummed as she thought over her girlfriend's words, wondering if that song was actually a better choice or not. She had to admit that it would make an impression, and frankly, either of them would work. It was more going off of which one would make more of an impression than the other.
The Ellen Show had a lot of viewers at this point, so this would actually be a big decision on her part.
"Guess I'll have to go with your gut, and trust you on this one" Billie replied after thinking for a few minutes. Haley looked at her with slight surprise, not expecting her to listen to her on this, but her face slowly warmed into a smile.
"Thanks for trusting me on this one. But don't blame me if I'm wrong. I'm just guessing" Haley said. Billie chuckled at her girlfriend's words.
"I'm not gonna blame you, Hales. And I have a feeling that you're right on this one, so don't get all worried or anything" Billie replied, confident that her girlfriend was right on this one.
If not, then it didn't really matter either way. Her album would be giant no matter what, this would just make it a little bit bigger than otherwise.
With that in mind, the two leaned back in the couch, as Haley began to watch the show with her, even if she barely understood what she was watching.
And as they watched, Billie just smiled.
Hoping that the decision was the right one.
