Chapter 3 - Haru’s Path

RETURN TO THE LAND OF LIGHT

After parting ways with the Land of Shadows, Haru and Shukumei journeyed back toward their homeland the Land of Light, where endless fields of sakura blossoms painted the world in soft hues of pink.

For a moment… it felt peaceful.

But that peace did not last.

As they traveled, Haru suddenly coughed violently—blood spilling from his lips.

His body trembled.

His vision blurred.

 A FADING LIGHT

"Haru!" Shukumei shouted, descending quickly to the ground.

He carefully lowered Haru beside a tree, his voice filled with urgency.

"Talk to me—what's wrong?!"

Haru chuckled weakly, his breath shallow.

"…Looks like this is it for me… my bestfriend."

Shukumei's eyes widened.

"No—don't say that."

Without hesitation, he activated his ocular power—the Butsugan—attempting to heal him.

THE COST OF POWER

Haru gently grabbed Shukumei's hand.

"You're missing the point…"

Shukumei froze.

"The power I sealed… the darkness I carried… placing it within Itami…"

Haru exhaled slowly.

"…It drained my aura completely."

Shukumei clenched his teeth.

"I can still save you."

Haru shook his head.

"No… this technique consumes life itself. Even your power cannot restore what's already been given."

A HIDDEN TRUTH

"Why didn't you tell me?!" Shukumei demanded.

Haru smiled faintly.

"Because you would have tried to stop me."

Silence filled the air.

Shukumei's voice trembled.

"…You knew this would kill you… and you did it anyway?"

HARU'S PATH

Haru's gaze turned toward the sky.

"I would give my life… for peace in this world."

Then, softly—

"For my son… Inochi."

His eyes softened with warmth.

"This is… my path."

PROMISES

A Father's Request (Flashback)

"There's something I need you to do for me," Haru said gently.

"Take care of Inochi."

Shukumei's expression fell.

"You knew… didn't you?"

Haru nodded.

"Before the war… I sealed the Light Dragon's essence within him."

"The Buddha spirit revealed it to me… Inochi is destined to become the one who brings balance."

THE TRUTH OF HIS ILLNESS

"This sickness…" Haru continued.

"It's withdrawal."

Shukumei's eyes widened.

"I hid it… so the village wouldn't worry. I didn't want fear to spread."

 A LEGACY ENTRUSTED

"Teach him everything," Haru said.

"Protect the village. Protect the shinobi world."

"He will carry my will… the will of light."

Shukumei hesitated.

"…That's too much for a child."

Haru smiled.

"I believe in him."

THE SWORD OF A SAMURAI

"When he's ready… give him my sword."

"It represents my spirit… my life as a samurai."

"And you—"

Haru looked directly at him.

"I want you to become the Second Grandmaster."

DOUBT AND FAITH

Shukumei shook his head.

"I'm not fit for that."

Haru's voice was firm.

"You are."

"I trust you."

Slowly…

Shukumei nodded.

"…Then I accept."

A FINAL FAREWELL

"I'm sorry… for leaving him behind," Haru whispered.

Shukumei's voice broke.

"I'll protect him. I promise."

Haru smiled peacefully.

"…Thank you."

And in that moment Haru Yaskue… passed away.

SADNESS AND SORROWS

Shukumei held his lifeless body tightly.

Memories flooded his mind thier childhood.

Training together.

Laughing… competing… growing.

Now he is Gone.

THE WEIGHT OF LEGACY

With trembling hands, Shukumei removed Haru's cloak the symbol of the Grandmaster of Light.

He took his sword… placing it upon his own back.

Then lifted Haru's body and soared toward Sakura Village.

FINAL GOODBYE

As Shukumei arrived, the village guards rushed forward.

"Get medical assistance—now!"

But Shukumei spoke quietly "…He's gone."

Silence.

Disbelief.

The medical team carried Haru's body away, preserving it with the utmost care.

HARU'S CLOAK AND SWORD

At his home, Shukumei placed Haru's blade and cloak beside two old photographs—

Memories of their past with their sensei.

He stared at them…

And broke down.

Tears fell freely.

For the first time he felt truly alone.

UNDER THE SAKURA TREE

Later, he stood beneath the tallest sakura tree near the waterfall the place Haru loved most.

The wind whispered softly.

The moonlight shone above.

And Shukumei… simply stared.

HAMARI IYASHI

He arrived at a small home and knocked.

The door opened.

Hamari stood before him her warm eyes immediately filled with concern.

"…Shukumei… are you okay?"

He hesitated.

"…Is Inochi safe?"

She nodded.

"He's sleeping."

A QUIET CONVERSATION

Inside, she prepared tea.

They sat together.

And then hetold her.

"…Haru is gone."

Silence filled the room.

A NEW RESPONSIBILITY

"He asked me… to raise Inochi," Shukumei admitted.

"I don't know if I can…"

Hamari placed her hand over his.

"You can."

"You're exactly what he needs."

LOVE AND STRENGTH

Shukumei looked into her eyes.

"…You've always been there for me."

He took her hands.

"I want to stay by your side… for the rest of my life."

Tears welled in her eyes.

"I love you too."

In that moment…

They chose each other.

THE CHILD OF LIGHT

They entered Inochi's room.

He slept peacefully.

Shukumei smiled.

"He looks just like his father."

Hamari nodded.

"He really does."

A SHARED PROMISE

"…Will you help me raise him?" Shukumei asked.

Hamari smiled.

"Always."

THE HIERARCHY

Shukumei made his way to the council chamber.

Five elders sat before him.

He bowed deeply.

"The Grandmaster… Haru Yaskue… has passed."

Shock filled the room.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

"The village must be informed," Shukumei said.

"The funeral will be held tomorrow."

He presented Haru's roab.

"It must be restored."

 THE NEXT GRANDMASTER

"…And now?" Shukumei asked.

The elders spoke:

"After the funeral… we will decide who becomes the Second Grandmaster."

A NEW ERA BEGINS

Shukumei nodded.

Then turned…

And walked away.

THE WILL OF LIGHT LIVES ON

Though Haru was gone his will remained.

In his son.

In his friend.

And in the fragile balance of the world.
