Skylar stayed a distance from Dracule, and Alucard stayed with her, while Dracule and Elizabeth looked around. Trevor and Sypha stayed between the two, so Dracule could calm down and not go for Skylar's throat again, and to get some work on looking for something to kill Dracula. Skylar had been avoiding looking at Alucard since Dracule called her a mati. Alucard kept trying to move into her line of sight, but Skylar looked away quickly, like she couldn't stand looking at him. Alucard kept trying as he and Skylar walked around, looking at the books. Alucard couldn't take it for some reason.
"Skylar," Alucard took hold of her shoulder, making her jump a little. She tried to look away from him again, but Alucard pinned her against the bookshelf and lifted her chin to look in her eyes. "What is going on? Ever since Dracule came, you have avoided looking at me. What did my sister mean when she called you a Mati?"
Skylar turned her eyes away from Alucard, and he boxed her in with his arms against the bookshelf. Alucard wasn't going to let her off the hook for how strange she had been acting. SKylar finally let out a sigh and gave up.
"I don't like to talk about things like the Mati clan," Skylar said, shutting her eyes to avoid eye contact with Alucard. He wasn't having it and thunked his forehead against hers. She flinched, letting out a grunt, then opened her eyes, locking eye contact. Skylar's cheeks tinted a faint pink.
"Skylar, was the Mati your clan?" His voice was stern, yet careful. Skylar tried to look away, but Alucard held Skylar still, not letting her look away. "Skylar,"
Skylar was silent, looking in Alucard's eyes. Alucard looked in her eyes as well. Skylar wouldn't say anything about the Mati clan and her connection to them. ALucard could see questioning her was leading nowhere. He sighed and backed off.
"If you are still traumatized by it this much, I will not pry," Alucard said, and went on to look over the books. Skylar stayed there against the books. Her bangs covered her eyes a little, making it hard to see her expression. Skylar's hand shook as she placed it over her heartbeat in her chest. Her cheeks were still slightly red.
