Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5: Time's running out

"You can't leave, my princess!" Elder Cryzton said, his voice firm but tinged with a hint of desperation.

Zaiveil halted, her eyes narrowing as she turned to face him. The moonlight cast a silver glow on her features, making her look like a statue carved from marble.

Her eyes seemed to bore into Elder Cryzton's deepest soul. Zaiveil looked at Elder Cryzton as if telling him to explain the abrupt words she heard.

"We don't have much time, the portal to our world would only open for 5 minutes, and right now we only have at least 4 minutes left, the countdown for its closing started when the clock turned to midnight earlier." Elder Cryzton hurriedly explained, his eyes darting between Zaiveil and the lake.

"My princess, I'll tell you everything you wanted to know while our souls are traveling in the void of cosmos, but right now we really need to hurry." He forgot about the portal and his real purpose after seeing Zaiveil, and now the weight of their situation was settling in. His eyes seemed to hold a hint of anticipation for their princess's return.

The time is running out, and Elder Cryzton and Zaiveil needed to enter the portal immediately if they didn't want to be stuck here in Planet Gaia for a long period of time.

After hearing the short and hurried explanation of Elder Cryzton, Zaiveil decisively opened her phone again to message someone. Her fingers flew across the screen, typing out a message with a speed and precision under her calm demeanor. The phone's screen glowed softly in the darkness, casting an eerie glow on her face.

'To: Nightingale

I have to leave now, I'll let you handle everything, make sure those monsters will rot in jail and will never make any more chaos. Come to Twilight Park, get my phone as evidence of their crimes, it's located at the first tree you'll see beside Moonlit lake. I hope to see you again someday, take care, gale.

from: veil'

When the message had been sent, she walked to the nearest tree beside Moonlit lake and jumped to put the phone on one of its thickest branches. The tree's leaves rustled softly in the breeze, the sound of the leaves rustling was like a whisper in the silence, a reminder that time was running out.

Zaiveil walked back to Elder Cryzton, who seemed curious about what she'd done but instead of asking her, he decided to just shut up. His eyes, though, betrayed his curiosity, and Zaiveil could sense the unasked questions hanging in the air.

"Where's the portal you're talking about?" she asked, her voice firm, looking at the clean surrounding, without any signs of the so-called portal.

"It was hidden in the middle of the lake, my princess." Elder Cryzton said, then waved his hands thrice, and something magical happened. The air seemed to ripple, like the surface of the lake when a stone is thrown into it. A shimmering veil of energy appeared, and the moonlight seemed to bend and twist, revealing a transparent black and blue portal. The portal's edges shimmered like the surface of the water, and a soft hum filled the air, like the gentle buzzing of a harp string.

The portal's opening was like a magical existence in front of reality, its edges raw and pulsing with energy. The surrounding air was charged with an otherworldly power, and Zaiveil could feel the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end. The trees surrounding the lake seemed to lean in, as if they were trying to get a glimpse of the portal, and the water seemed to ripple, like it was being pulled towards the opening.

The world seemed to stop its movement, and the mesmerizing portal could be seen in Zaiveil's eyes. The air was charged with an otherworldly energy, and she thought that it is too magical.

As they stood there, the silence was broken by the sound of the wind rustling through the trees, and the distant hooting of an owl. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation, and Zaiveil knew they had to move.

"Come on" she said, her voice firm, nodding towards the portal.

Elder Cryzton nodded, a look of relief and excitement washing over his face. "Yes, my princess, we must hurry."

Together, they stepped towards the lake, the portal's shimmering surface reflecting their images like a distorted mirror. As they walked, the water seemed to part, revealing a narrow path leading to the portal.

Zaiveil's eyes were fixed on the portal, her heart pounding with something she can't explain. She knew that once they stepped through the portal, there would be no turning back and she would be able to know everything about her identity. The thought sent a thrill through her, and she smiled, a small, cold smile.

"My princess?" Elder Cryzton said, his voice hesitant, as if sensing her thoughts.

"Let's go." Zaiveil said, her voice firm, stepping onto the path.
