On the bed staring at the ceiling, Nathan thought of Felix's theory.
"If they are as dangerous as they say why would anyone summon one," Nathan said to himself.
He was interrupted by a knock on his door. As he walked to his front door then he heard the person knock two more times.
Nathan opened the door to see Clayton standing there.
"What happened?" he asked.
"She wants to see you," Clayton replied.
"Who?" Nathan frowned.
"Jane, she is one of your father's partners," Clayton explained.
"Tell her I am not available. I will meet with her tomorrow," Nathan said and tried to close the door but Clayton held it.
Nathan's mouth opened, his eyes widened as he stared at Clayton. He stepped back.
'What has gotten into him?' Nathan thought literally and figuratively. He looked around the room for something he could use to defend himself, just in case.
"Sorry, but I can not do that. There is a car waiting for you outside," Clayton said and stepped aside.
Nathan got out and closed the door behind him. As they walked down the stairs they ran into Felix.
"I heard Jane Doe summoned you. Some advice, try to stay calm. I heard she can smell fear," Felix said and walked away.
'Who is this Jane Doe?' Nathan thought as he realized Clayton did not want to offend her.
Just when they were about to walk out, they met Mark.
"You've been summoned?" Mark said as he nodded. As he was about to walk away Nathan grabbed his arm.
"What can you tell me about this Jane Doe?" Nathan asked.
"I have heard rumors but one thing I know for sure is to never call her Jane Doe," Mark said and walked away.
Nathan looked at Clayton.
"Her name is Jane Sullivan that's all I know. Just listen to what she has to say," Clayton advised.
They walked out and a black sedan was parked in front, beside it was a man in a black suit.
As he walked to the car he turned to look at Clayton and he nodded at him. The man by the car opened the back door when he got to the car.
He then got in the car and they drove off. Surprisingly, they drove to a diner not far from his house. He got out and the driver drove away.
He watched him go then slowly entered the diner. As soon as he entered a woman waved at him.
'That's Jane, she does not look as scary as I imagined,' Nathan thought as he moved in her direction.
She was an African American woman with a gray inverted bob. She was in a white shirt with gray pants.
She asked Nathan to sit and asked what he would like to have.
"I am fine," Nathan said and faked a smile.
"How are you handling Liam's death? Have you already had the funeral?" Jane inquired but paused when Nathan did not answer her.
His teeth grinded against each other.
She sighed, "I am Jane Sullivan. You don't know me but I worked with your father," Jane clarified.
"How can I help you?" Nathan asked.
Jane chuckled, "I am glad you asked. I want you to stop hunting," Jane said, instantly wiping the smile off her face.
"What?"
"Yes, no shooting up a NICU, attacking civilians, or creating a scene in the middle of the road," Jane said with a straight face.
"You are serious?" Nathan asked and Jane nodded.
"Go back to partying in every city in the world," Jane said.
"Fine, I did not want to do this anyway," Nathan said and walked out.
He was outside calling Mark to come pick him up when Jane walked out.
"No hard feelings, you just create more trouble than you solve," Jane said just as a convoy pulled up.
Everyone in the diner walked out and got in a car in the convoy. The whole thing looked rehearsed.
Jane then got in one and they drove away.
