After the events in Alabasta, Captain Smoker received a call from Navy headquarters. They informed him that he would be promoted for defeating Crocodile and stopping the crisis in the kingdom.
But Smoker became irritated when he heard this.
He answered firmly, "I didn't defeat Crocodile. Straw Hat Luffy did."
Smoker refused to take credit for something he didn't do, showing his strong sense of integrity.
After a moment of silence, Smoker added another thought.
"There's also another one traveling with them," he said. "A blue fighter called Sonic."
He paused briefly before continuing.
"He's extremely fast… faster than most fighters I've seen. Sometimes he hides his real strength. That one probably deserves a higher bounty too."

Not long after the events in Alabasta, new bounty posters began spreading across the seas. The Marines updated the rewards for the pirates involved in defeating Crocodile.
A new poster appeared showing a blue hedgehog with sharp eyes and a confident expression.
Name: Sonic the Hedgehog
Bounty: 42,000,000 Berries
The Marines increased Sonic's bounty after witnessing his speed, his fights against Baroque Works agents, and his involvement in the battle against Crocodile.
Some Marine officers discussed the new poster.
"One moment he's there, the next moment he's gone," one officer said. "That speed is dangerous."
Another replied, "If he keeps traveling with Straw Hat Luffy, his bounty will only keep rising."
Meanwhile, aboard the Going Merry, Sonic looked at the poster and smirked slightly.
"Guess the Navy noticed me after all."
