I appear at the altar of the citadel Sunnys next to me. I look over, and I do not giggle while thinking about our first time here. He had appeared in the water and started freaking out, I may or may not have laughed at him, and in response, he might have pulled me into the water.
Not that it matters because I do not think about it and thus I do not giggle at all. He shoots me quite the look. He leaves to go sell stuff while I leave to go do my own thing.
I walk around tapping my pencil on my notebook, what now....? I mean it doesn't say what to do and all that- well fuck it I'll just do documentation if I can't figure it out. I flip to a new page, and I go to the gateway to draw the weird obsidian knife nobody can take.
As I do I have a realization, I should totally take an ice skating class. It seems so incredibly cool and could totally open up some new movement techniques. Oh, maybe I should study real snowstorms too.
After about 3 and a half hours of documenting things and some other little personal stuff around the citadel go to find Sunny once again. It takes about half an hour until I find him. It's at the gateway.
"Yo hey sun"
"hey ■■■■"
Just then a gold coin???? Slips from him and lands on it. In a flash of light, it's gone
"The hell"
Sunny looks off into the distance looking at his runes. He then grabs my shoulder
"I just got a shadow fragment"
Heh????? What where did he even get that thing
"?"
"I got a shadow fragment."
He turns his head to look at me with the look that says "I'm about to pull you into something reckless and stupid for power yet again"
I laugh
"Well, what do we have to kill this time, maybe a titan? Knowing you I wouldn't be shocked"
"Okay, you know the deal. We have to check out Iron Hand Island for more coins."
I sigh dramatically
"You're really motivated."
"Thanks for pointing out the obvious"
We leave I wave at the people manning the walls. They wave back, still without my helmet and wings they just know me as some random.
We walk until we get to the edge of the island i summon Frozen Singer and my wings, i grab her hand and we float over to the next island. I turn back to Sunny giving him a grin. He summons the... I forgot its name but it's a set of wings and saint. He walks back while Saint lowers her shield, he starts running towards her steps on her shield and she flings him towards me.
He lands mildly gracefully, if a little comically. He had already desummoned saint but I hadn't desummoned singer. I summon divine flame and I start equipping him with his saddle.
"You know what I think Sunless?"
He looks back at me with a weird look "What?"
"I think a god made that knife."
He slowly shakes his head
"How....."
"Think about it, not even a saint can even slightly lift or damage it, isn't that suspicious, a god could easily do that and make it last for this long"
He sighs as I summon my helmet.
We get to Iron Hand Island and he quickly moves to a large dead fallen demon. I summon my notebook and start sketching it. I watch as Sunny digs around in its body looking for coins, a bit gross but he can do it I guess. He holds them up after getting 3 of them.
"So we're going to have to talk with the clan right?"
He nods and tosses me one it hits my helmet and I grab it before it falls, i hear Sunny snicker at it. I shoot him a look then I notice singer is snickering too!
"It isn't funny."
Later when we get back I keep my helmet on. We walk together towards the clan headquarters. It's been decided that Sunny will do the talking
"State your business, awakened"
Sunny smiles for some reason
"Oh! We are here to see master Roan. He once told me to come find him if I need anything. So.... here we are. We're in need of something. Can you fetch him really quick?"
The guard frowns
"What is this about exactly?"
"Demon hunting"
He gives us a weird look then whistles and leaves soon another appears. We follow her to go see master Roan who Sunny met, i don't know when he met the guy. Wait, when did he meet master.... R something. I should start asking about what he does.
We walk for a while before we finally get to the clan master and his echo, a very nice-looking grifffin.
"Good morning sunless, I see you brought awakened heat seeker with you..."
He looks at Flame and Singer, i normally don't desummon them, Singer is laying on top of Flame.
"I must admit I didn't expect you to seek me out so soon and with awakened Heat Seeker as well. Did something happen?"
I follow Sunny as he sits down Flame sits next to me and I scratch his chin, I think I get a weird look then master whatever looks at the Griffin Echo and stops giving me the weird look.
"Nothing that I would want to concern you with. You see I am not here to talk about something that happened but more about something that might happen."
Sunny with his weird pedantic way of talking, I wonder when it will be-
"don't tell me wait are you here with a business proposal? Am I about to become a consumer of Sunny's brilliant emporium?"
I try not to laugh, luckily I have my helmet on so he can't see me try not to laugh sunny flashes me a look then looks up slightly at Singer and he grits his teeth
"Oh your echo can.... talk? Well, less talk and more write little air messages"
I nod it seems Singer laughed at sunny
"Only Frozen Singer can, Divine Flame can't"
nods, sunny clears his throat, and master R looks over at him
"Uh...no no what? Where did you hear about that?"
R grins
"I hear things"
I cime in
"He once tried to buy my bag, it's a storage memory, but he couldn't afford it"
Sunny elbows me but I'm in armor so it doesn't do much. R is clearly trying not to laugh at this point.
Soon the two are talking about the dead fallen demon, it's called a chain worm, I update my notebook with that getting a weird look and a mutter about something being true from R.
The things eat rusted chains, explains the name, and that the citadel is fine. Now if one didn't know Sunny too well he'd seem fine but he's really eager to know where the thing came from so he could steal- no helpfully take the coins off whatever has them hands. I notice the vibe shift and the echoes look up.
Then the clan saint is here, well isn't that something I didn't expect this to happen but when Sunnys around some bull shit is to follow. R brightens
"Good morning, sunshine"
Well they seem like a cute couple, they've got the whole opposite attracts sort of thing going on. Also, I think her eyes look like bird eyes, weird but mine glow so I won't judge
"Good morning Ro". I notice her eyes my ice shards, wait
"Frozen Singer isn't a human echo, she's a wraith."
God I must have looked like a murderer. She turns to Sunny with a slightly curious look. R takes it on himself to explain, although when clan saint answers she mentions Shipwreck Island. I notice Sunny seems to get slightly giddy. He stumbles out exit speech and we go to leave, well he goes to leave while I climb on Flame.
"Wait"
We look back
"Yes how can we help you"
"You two come from the forgotten shores if im not mistaken"
We nod
"So does Divine Flame, Frozen Singer does not"
"Aw of course, song of the fallen. Do you know her?"
Sunny stiffens, i know he had a falling out with her so this has to be awkward.
"Yes we both know her, why"
"Good, Song of the Fallen will be visiting the sanctuary soon. She will be glad to see familiar faces, I think"
I nod
"I'll be sure to greet her if I can"
We arrive back at the real world. I quickly get up and go to my room changing my outfit. I flop down on the couch and I start looking at ice skating classes. Sunny leaves for whatever he does, I don't know, I'm not the Sunny keeper.
I get up and I get a cup of hot chocolate. Wait, Sunny, mongrel, I should look up how his dreamscape persona is doing. I sit down as I look it up. I promptly almost choke on it. I hit my chest a few times trying to clear my throat out
"Holy sh-"
Sunny comes back with quite look on his face, I wave at him. He's famous now, how cool for him. It seems we're popular in similar communities. Well I'm not popular in the fighting one but still. Maybe I should register to do some fights in the Dreamscape too.
Okay back to the ice skating classes. It takes me a while before I find one I'm satisfied with, it's close and the next appointment is far away but it has high ratings and all that. It's not like I'll be doing anything other than an expedition to Shipwreck Island in the near future.
