I text Kai
"Hey present sun"
He responds with a thumbs up. I wait on the couch for Kai to get here. After a while he knocks on the door I get up speed walking to the door.
"Kai. I missed suns birthday and I want to get him something to make up for it"
He nods with a smile
"Well what do you have in mind?"
I grin I've got quite a few.
We arrive at the shopping center
"Okay first off, the clothing store."
He tilts his head
"So why exactly are you getting him a gray sweater and fingerless gloves?"
I look up opossum on my phone and I show it to him
"Really?"
I smile at him
"Come on it's funny plus it's going to be comfortable"
He laughs a bit
"Your going to get sunny to look like an opossum."
I nod
"Yeah. It's funny"
We walk into the clothing store.
"So you helped Sun get clothes the first time so I figured you could help this time"
He nods
"I can. Also maybe while we're here we we could get you some new clothes too"
I tilt my head
"Why, they fit mostly fine"
he sighs
"I'll put this bluntly because I know that's how you communicate. You're a fashion nightmare"
I stare at him.
"Hmm yeah, I don't really know much about fashion"
He sighs. I laugh
"I'm going to get sun a"
I do air quotes
""lord mongrel" shirt"
He tilts his head
"Why?"
"It's funny that's why"
He nods.
"He's mentioned weaving or weaver or something. So I'm going to get him a book on that"
he looks over at me
"You remember stuff like that?"
I'm not that bad damn
"Yes? Of course I do. So are you going to get him something too?"
He nods
"Of course. I plan on getting him a few memories, he seems to really want those."
I nod
"Oh and he said he wants to learn how to use a bow"
Kai looks over a little surprised.
"Oh it should help him out with that"
He smiles at me.
I check the material of the jacket. I nod
"Yeah he'd like this"
I grin. Finally, a jacket he'd like.
"How did you know?"
I look over
"I do most of the laundry"
He makes a face
"I'm sorry how does that connect?"
"I know which jacket he wears more because I see them in the laundry."
He nods
"I guess that makes sense"
I grab the jacket throwing it into the cart.
"Uhm ■■■■ you're holding my arm too hard"
I let go of him
"Sorry Kai"
"No no it's fine, you were just holding too hard I'm okay with you holding my arm."
He puts his hands up, I think he's saying he's fine with me holding his arm it just needs to not hold so hard. Yeah that's what he means, probably.
I go back to holding his arm, I've never liked being in stores, and after the forgotten shores, all of the options get a bit overwhelming. We keep walking around.
We walk to where the gloves are. I start checking them. No no no, hell no, no no maybe no finally. I grab a set of black fingerless gloves and I throw them into the cart.
"You're really putting in effort into this"
Kai's smiling for some reason
"I want to get something he'd wear. Getting someone a useless gift makes no sense"
He nods with a gentle smile
"Well it's still good you're putting in so much effort"
We walk to the register, and I notice a pack of gum. I grab it quickly, I check out and we leave. I let go of Kai's arm as well walk to a bookstore.
"What's up with the gum?"
"Hm? Oh I used to get it every time I went to the store with my mother, and I decided to get a sun pack"
He tilts his head and smiles.
"Oh okay"
he's being weird again
"So next a book on weaving. I ordered the shirt online"
He nods with a smile.
We walk into the bookstore. I look around, and I lean over
"Hey, how do you navigate a bookstore?"
"Well if it's a book on weaving then it's probably in the art section"
We start walking to the art section. I grab a book on PTVs
"Hm?"
"I'm trying to make a moving ice PTV"
He stares at me dumbfounded
"I.... that's very impressive"
I grin
"It's cool"
He nods
"It's cool"
We keep walking as I tuck the book under my arm.
Soon we find ourselves in the art section. I look around. I start looking around. First I find the physical art section then I start narrowing it down, soon I find the book I was looking for
"Here it is"
He looks over
"Well that was fast wasn't it"
Well check out and leave
"Do you want to go get food at the food court?"
I look over
"Sure why not"
As we wait in line for some expensive place or something, that Kai wants.
"Hey I heard this place has good sweets, do you want some?"
I shake my head
"Nope"
He looks over at me briefly. We get Kai's food I expect him to go find a seat but he follows as I get my food. I'm not sure why but I'd rather not be alone so I don't mind. We sit down, he got some pasta or something, I got some chicken strips and fries. He stays silent for a bit before speaking
"You like being around me right?"
Weird question
"Yes? I wouldn't hang out with you if I didn't"
I hold up a chicken strip
"Want one?"
He nods taking it.
He calls a private PTV. We stand around for a bit.
"Hey, your costume thing kinda sucks."
He looks over slowly
"What?"
"It's pretty obvious you're a celebrity."
He nods
"At least you're honest about it"
"You should get a hair color changing memory, some fake glasses, and like wear more loose-fitting stuff"
He looks over with a baffled expression
"Why have you thought about it? The public doesn't know what your face looks like"
I check to make sure everything is in the bags
"I'm famous, even if they don't know my face now, they will eventually"
He nods and smiles
"It's good to be prepared"
I grab the package at the door, the shirt I got him, heheh. I walk into the house, and Effie is still here. Does she live here now or something? I notice we have a fridge again, cool that's good.
"What's up with the bags?"
I look up
"I got late birthday gifts for sun. A gray jacket and fingerless gloves to make him look like an opossum, some gum, and a book on weaving"
She starts snickering
"Why?"
"Because he's said stuff about weaving"
She shakes her head
"No no, the opossum thing"
Oh that makes sense
"Because they fit his vibes very very well"
I walk past throwing the bag of his new stuff into his bed. I then scamper off to my "making stuff" room to figure out how to make a cool as hell ice PTV.
