The car was quiet, but only for a second. My chest was heavy, and I couldn't help but think about my sister.
"We have to get her," I told Xavier. This was the first time I was speaking to him, really to him. My voice was firm, though weary. I couldn't help it though. Facing the man that was not only the Wolf King, but the father of my children, was strange, intimidating. He sat across from me, the car was empty. Cleo, Caleb and Charles were in another car, following behind. He and I were alone to confront each other.
"No."
His abrupt refusal made my head spin. I blinked, my ire rising at his words.
"No? She's my sister," I raised my voice.
"She is the mate of that man. I have no desire to entangle myself with your sister, pitiable as she may be," he responded, His words were exactly like I had expected, cutting and cold. But it only stirred discontent within me.
"She was the one that helped me," I stated. He was absolutely infuriating!
