Chapter 28 - Chapter 6 – The Abyss Siege

Ashes of the Silent War: Shadow of the Leviathans

Chapter 6 – The Abyss Siege

The coastal city of Aurelia was burning.

Smoke rose into the night sky as thousands of civilians ran through shattered streets. Emergency sirens screamed across the harbor while evacuation ships struggled to escape the collapsing docks.

And above it all…

The Abyss Leviathan stood like a walking apocalypse.

The monster towered over the skyline, its black crystalline armor glowing with pulses of blue energy. Each step crushed buildings beneath its massive claws.

A naval destroyer fired its entire missile payload.

The rockets slammed into the creature's chest.

The explosions lit the night sky.

When the smoke cleared…

The Leviathan was still standing.

Its glowing eyes turned toward the city center.

Then it roared.

The sound shook the ocean.

The Defense Line

Military aircraft screamed overhead as Kael Varden's command transport descended into the war zone.

Inside the aircraft, soldiers of the Crimson Legion prepared their weapons.

Heavy artillery teams.

Anti-Leviathan missile units.

Armored strike squads.

Kael stood at the center of the cabin studying the battlefield map projected in front of him.

Lyra leaned against the wall beside him.

"Aurelia's defenses are collapsing," she said.

Kael nodded.

"Evacuation status?"

"Sixty percent of civilians already out."

Kael looked toward the glowing marker of the Leviathan on the map.

"Then we hold the monster long enough for the rest to escape."

The aircraft door opened.

The battlefield roared below.

Kael stepped onto the landing platform.

"Crimson Legion!"

The soldiers turned toward him.

"This is the first battle of the Abyss War."

He pointed toward the massive creature in the distance.

"That thing is stronger than anything we fought in the Silent War."

The soldiers tightened their grips on their weapons.

"But it can bleed."

Kael raised his rifle.

"And tonight… we prove it."

The Battle of Aurelia

The ground shook as the Leviathan advanced through the city.

Its claws tore through skyscrapers like paper.

A squadron of fighter jets launched an attack run.

Laser cannons hammered the monster's head.

The Leviathan swung its massive arm.

One of the jets exploded in a fireball.

Kael's armored convoy raced through the streets toward the harbor battlefield.

"Missile teams ready!" he ordered.

Armored vehicles deployed into firing positions.

Dozens of heavy launchers locked onto the monster.

"Fire!"

The night sky erupted.

A storm of missiles slammed into the Leviathan's chest.

This time…

The creature staggered.

Blue energy burst from cracks in its armor.

Lyra watched through her sniper scope from a ruined rooftop.

"You're hurting it."

Kael's voice came through the comm.

"Then let's hurt it more."

The Assassin

Suddenly—

A quiet voice spoke behind Lyra.

"Impressive aim."

Lyra spun around instantly.

A figure stood on the rooftop behind her.

Black tactical armor.

A long white cloak.

And twin energy blades glowing in both hands.

The man smiled faintly.

"You must be Lyra."

Lyra raised her sniper rifle.

"And you are?"

The assassin bowed slightly.

"Architect operative Kade Orion."

His eyes were cold.

"Commander Voss sent me to eliminate you."

Lyra fired.

The assassin vanished.

The sniper round shattered the wall behind him.

Kade reappeared beside her.

His blade slashed toward her throat.

Lyra barely dodged.

The blade sliced across her shoulder armor.

She rolled across the rooftop and drew her combat pistol.

Kade moved like a ghost.

Fast.

Precise.

Deadly.

"Commander Voss considers Kael dangerous," he said calmly while circling her.

"But you…"

His blade glowed brighter.

"Are the real threat."

The Abyss Titan

Across the harbor battlefield, Kael watched the Leviathan struggle against the missile barrage.

Then his comm unit crackled.

Lyra's voice was strained.

"I've got company."

Kael frowned.

"Architect assassin?"

"Yes."

"Can you handle him?"

A brief pause.

"I'll try."

Kael turned his attention back to the Leviathan.

But suddenly—

The ocean began to churn violently.

Ships rocked in the harbor.

Massive waves rose against the docks.

Kael stared toward the water.

"That's not the Leviathan…"

The sea split open.

Something enormous began rising from the depths.

Even bigger than the creature attacking the city.

The water exploded upward.

A colossal titan of black armor and glowing energy towers emerged from the ocean.

Its body was nearly twice the size of a normal Leviathan.

Its chest core burned like a miniature sun.

Kael whispered,

"What the hell is that…"

At that moment, every screen in the battlefield command network flickered.

A familiar face appeared.

Adrian Voss.

The Architect commander smiled calmly.

"Commander Kael."

He gestured toward the gigantic creature rising behind him.

"Allow me to introduce the first true weapon of Project Abyss."

The titan roared.

The sound shattered nearby windows across the city.

Voss's voice remained calm.

"This is Abyss Titan – Behemoth."

The monster stepped onto the shore.

Its massive foot crushed an entire city block.

Kael stared at the impossible creature.

The original Leviathan now looked small beside it.

Voss leaned closer to the camera.

"Aurelia will serve as the first demonstration."

He smiled faintly.

"Let us see how long humanity survives… against this."

The transmission ended.

Across the burning city, Kael raised his rifle slowly.

Two titanic monsters now stood in the harbor.

And Aurelia…

Was moments away from complete destruction.
