Ashes of the Silent War: Shadow of the Leviathans
Chapter 7 – The Fall of Aurelia
The city of Aurelia was dying.
Flames climbed the sides of shattered skyscrapers. Sirens wailed endlessly through smoke-filled streets as millions of civilians rushed toward evacuation ships along the coastline.
Above the burning skyline stood two monsters.
The first Abyss Leviathan tore through the harbor defenses, smashing naval cannons and missile towers with brutal strength.
But beside it stood something far worse.
Abyss Titan – Behemoth.
The colossal titan towered over the city like a living mountain. Its crystalline armor glowed with streams of blue energy flowing across its body like lightning trapped inside stone.
When it moved…
The ground itself trembled.
Kael Varden stared up at the titan from the command vehicle.
His voice came through the battlefield network.
"All units hold positions."
One of the generals answered nervously.
"Commander… we can't stop that thing."
Kael's eyes stayed fixed on the monster.
"Then we slow it down."
The Defense of Aurelia
Armored divisions rolled into the city center.
Heavy artillery cannons locked onto the advancing monsters.
Missile batteries lined the rooftops of surviving buildings.
Kael climbed onto the roof of the command vehicle and activated his comm system.
"Crimson Legion… this is it."
Soldiers across the battlefield listened.
"We hold them here… or this city dies."
He pointed toward the Leviathan tearing through the harbor.
"Focus fire on the smaller one first."
Lyra's voice crackled through the channel from somewhere in the city.
"Already working on it."
Kael raised his rifle.
"Then let's bring it down."
The night sky erupted.
Hundreds of missiles streaked through the air and slammed into the Leviathan's chest and head.
Explosions ripped across its armor.
The monster roared and stumbled backward.
"Again!" Kael shouted.
More missiles launched.
This time the armor cracked.
Blue energy burst from the creature's core.
Kael saw the opening.
"All heavy guns… fire!"
Massive artillery cannons unleashed their full power.
The Leviathan's chest exploded in a storm of fire and energy.
The giant creature collapsed into the harbor, sending waves crashing into the city.
For a moment—
Humanity had won a victory.
But then Behemoth moved.
The Titan Awakens
The Abyss Titan stepped forward slowly.
Each step crushed entire city blocks.
Its glowing chest core began to pulse brighter.
Kael felt the ground vibrate beneath his boots.
"What is it doing…"
Then the titan raised both arms.
Energy gathered around its chest like a growing star.
Lyra's voice came through the comm.
"Kael… that energy spike isn't normal."
Kael's eyes widened.
"Everyone fall back!"
Too late.
Behemoth unleashed the attack.
A massive beam of blue energy blasted across the city.
The beam carved through buildings, roads, and defense lines like a blade cutting through paper.
Entire districts vanished in seconds.
The explosion lit the sky like a second sun.
When the light faded…
Half the city was gone.
Kael stared in disbelief at the devastation.
Thousands of soldiers had been wiped out in a single attack.
The titan roared again.
And began walking deeper into the city.
The Duel on the Rooftop
Far above the battlefield, Lyra faced the Architect assassin.
Kade Orion moved like a shadow across the rooftop.
His twin energy blades flashed toward her again.
Lyra dodged the strike and fired her pistol.
The assassin deflected the bullets with one blade.
"You fight well," Kade said calmly.
"But this war is already lost."
Lyra wiped blood from her shoulder.
"We'll see."
She suddenly dropped a smoke grenade.
The rooftop filled with thick black smoke.
Kade stepped forward cautiously.
"You think tricks will save you?"
A sniper shot cracked through the smoke.
The bullet grazed his arm.
Kade smiled faintly.
"Better."
He leapt forward through the smoke.
But Lyra was waiting.
She fired point-blank.
The shot pierced his armor.
Kade staggered.
For the first time… he looked surprised.
Lyra stepped closer with her pistol aimed at his chest.
"Tell Voss something for me."
Kade laughed weakly.
"I'm afraid… I can't."
His armor suddenly began to glow.
Lyra's eyes widened.
"Self-destruct—"
The explosion tore the rooftop apart.
The Fall of the City
Back on the battlefield, Kael watched the devastation spread across Aurelia.
Evacuation ships filled the harbor.
Millions of civilians were fleeing.
But the titan kept advancing.
Every step destroyed another part of the city.
The defense lines were collapsing.
A general's voice came through the comm.
"Commander… we can't stop it."
Kael clenched his fists.
He knew the truth.
The city was lost.
He opened the global command channel.
"All forces… begin evacuation."
The words felt like poison.
"We abandon Aurelia."
Silence filled the battlefield network.
Then soldiers began retreating toward the harbor.
Kael stared at the burning skyline.
The titan's glowing form moved through the ruins like a god of destruction.
Lyra's voice finally returned through the comm.
Weak… but alive.
"Kael…"
He exhaled with relief.
"You made it."
"Barely."
She looked toward the massive titan in the distance.
"We can't beat that thing."
Kael watched the city collapse beneath Behemoth's unstoppable advance.
"No."
His voice hardened.
"Not yet."
Evacuation ships lifted from the harbor.
Behind them, the city of Aurelia burned.
The first great battle of the Second Leviathan War had ended.
And humanity had suffered its first catastrophic defeat.
Far away, on a distant Architect command ship, Adrian Voss watched the destruction calmly.
The city collapsed beneath Behemoth's shadow.
One of his officers spoke quietly.
"The demonstration was successful."
Voss nodded.
"Yes."
He looked toward the global map.
Red markers lit up across the planet.
"Now the real war begins."
