~Katherine's POV
Aaron let out a slow breath beside me as if he had been holding it the entire time.
The nurse began pushing the bed toward the recovery room where Jasmine was, and I walked beside my son, holding his small hand gently. His fingers were warm in mine, but they remained completely still.
When we reached the room, they carefully transferred him onto another bed while the machines around him began beeping softly.
I sat beside him immediately.
His face looked pale but peaceful.
My heart ached as I brushed my fingers softly through his hair.
"My baby," I whispered.
More tears slipped down my cheeks as I gently caressed his head.
Aaron stood on the other side of the bed watching silently.
Mathew remained near the door giving us space while the nurses finished adjusting the machines and checking Hanith's condition.
After a few minutes they quietly left the room.
Hanith stirred slightly but did not wake.
The small movement made my heart skip for a moment.
