"Can I turn the radio up?" Alice asked as they cruised down the country road.
Silas nodded.
"Sure, just remember to give me directions."
Alice smiled and nodded as she leaned in and turned the dial up.
The song "Daughters" by John Mayer was playing.
Alice nodded slightly to the acoustics and looked out the window and the passing trees.
Silas yawned, this song kinda made him sleepy.
"Do you like this song?" Alice turned her head and asked.
Silas thought for a second.
"It's alright, I like more high energy songs."
Alice nodded.
"Me too, but I kinda like these calm ones sometimes, you know."
Silas nodded.
Just then Alice pointed.
"Wait! Here, turn right up ahead."
Silas followed the line of her finger and saw a well taken care of gravel road ahead.
He let go of the gas and let the engine brake slow them down, as they were about to turn he braked a little and turned.
Silas watched the road ahead. The gravel was flat and you could tell this road was new, it was not one of those old gravel roads which were built on birch twigs and other soft materials.
No, this road was probably built on top of rockfill, then just finer gravel as you get closer to the top.
Thaw weakening won't get this road uneven or full of holes, no, this is the road of the rich.
Mhh… not like he can speak, the gravel road to his house is the same.
"Nice road."
Alice smiled.
"Yeah, its only a few years old."
Hah. I knew it. Am I the smartest or what?
Alice saw Silas's narcissistic smile and was confused.
"What's up?"
Silas looked over. I can't tell her I knew the road was new… you might get bullied for your intelligence.
"Nothing, I just thought of the food I'm about to eat."
Alice smiled. Liar. Heheh, he's probably excited to come home to my place. Yes.
Silas watched Alice's perverted smile and could guess what she thought. Delusional.
They rolled forward slowly on the road.
They vibed to the music on the radio. It was now playing "Over and Over" by Nelly.
Just then they rolled up to a nice house, with big windows.
Whistle~
"Nice house."
Alice smiled.
"Right? It's a very beautiful, nice view, modern look and it lets in a lot of sunlight."
Silas looked over. The irony.
Just then Alice smiled and looked over.
"But I don't think you live worse, hehe."
Silas let out a smile and shook his head in denial.
"I just got a little better view."
Alice laughed.
"Sure, sure. Stay humble."
Silas just smiled. He rolled up in front of the house and parked.
"Can I park here?"
Alice nodded.
"Yeah, it's fine."
Silas killed the engine and reached for the door handle. He opened the door and stepped out, Alice was already standing when he got out.
She looked like she had taken a handful of adderall and then drank 10 energy drinks.
Silas just smiled.
"Silas! Let's go!" Alice walked over and grabbed his sleeve, dragging him towards the door.
Watching her smiling and excited demeanor, Silas just let himself be dragged along.
As they arrived at the door and Alice reached for the handle, the door was flung open nearly hitting them.
On the other side Emmett stood.
"My good brother!"
Alice frowned.
"Hey! You big idiot, you nearly hit Silas with the door."
Emmett blinked and looked out, turned his head left and right, then scratched his head.
"Sorry Silas, I was just so excited."
Silas smiled.
"It's fine, I'm athletic."
Alice still looked annoyed. Silas is just human, these brutes need to be more careful.
Silas pulled his hand resulting in Alice snapping back to reality.
"Are we going inside?" Silas asked.
Alice turned to look at him.
"Hehe, of course."
She dragged him inside.
Silas was dragged up the stairs and towards the kitchen.
He heard some sounds from the kitchen, there was conversation, laughing, and clanking of kitchen utensils. But when they got closer the sounds lessened, nearly quieting.
They rounded the wall and soon the kitchen came into view.
Right behind them Emmett walked out and rounded them, heading towards Rosalie standing at the kitchen island, complaining. Like usual.
Silas looked over the kitchen and saw at least three different dishes.
He looked up and saw a woman staring right at him with a smile. That must be Esme.
Silas smiled back and turned to look to the side, there stood a man, he could only be Carlisle.
Just then the woman spoke.
"You must be Silas." Esme dried her hands on the towel and walked around the kitchen island, and approached.
"What do you think of our home so far?"
Silas smiled.
"It looks really nice."
Silas looked around and said.
"I guess you are the decorator?"
Esme smiled even deeper.
"How did you know?"
Silas let out a chuckle.
"I guessed."
Esme turned around and motioned towards the dishes.
"What do you think?"
"I hope you like chicken, we made chicken cacciatore, yakitori, and also Fricassée."
"As for fish we made lemon garlic baked cod."
Before Silas could respond Carlisle also rounded the kitchen island with a helpless smile on his face.
"We? It was all Esme."
Silas smiled.
"It all looks good."
He was practically drooling.
Esme smiled as she saw his expression.
"Don't worry, it will be done soon."
Silas smiled.
"No hurry."
Esme smiled as she walked back to the kitchen. Carlisle looked at Silas with a smile.
"Let me lead you to the dining room."
Silas nodded.
He followed Carlisle, and Alice followed him.
"So, what brings you to Forks?" Carlisle asked as they walked.
"Mhh, just to get away, see a different scenery."
Carlisle nodded.
"Yes, Forks is quite calm, except for the recent animal attacks."
Silas nodded.
"Yeah, I heard about that, but what do you expect, we are in the middle of the forest."
Carlisle nodded.
"Yeah, but it's still sad."
"Of course, but that's how life is."
Just then they arrived at the dining hall.
"So how are your parents, Silas?"
Alice stared at Carlisle. I knew I should have given them the run through of Silas's information.
"Well, I don't have parents, they died a long time ago. As for my guardian, he's well, eating, drinking, probably getting a massage somewhere."
Mikael laying in his mansion getting a massage from a beautiful lady sneezed.
Who's talking about me? Could it be the master?
Carlisle looked over at Alice then back to Silas. He put on a compassionate expression.
"I'm sorry Silas, I didn't know."
"It's fine, as I said, it was a long time ago."
Carlisle, who had been thinking about asking more questions, was too embarrassed to continue.
"Here, pick a seat." Carlisle motioned towards the big nice table.
Silas looked it over and picked a seat at the head of the table.
Just like at home. All that's missing is sect leaders, emperors, and owners of chambers of commerce.
