Silas looked over the table and reminisced of his past glory.

As he was getting lost in memories he felt two strong hands on his shoulders.

"Brother, here comes the food." Emmett said as Esme and Rosalie walked in with two plates each.

Silas looked over and then came the smell. He swallowed and smacked his lips.

Yes. This was gonna be good.

Alice sat down on his right, smiling as she saw his expression. Hehe, this is going according to plan.

Carlisle was pondering if he should sit down to the left of Silas, but someone was faster.

"Hehe brother, you have to eat fast so we can play some games."

Silas looked over, no brother, are you urging me? I've been waiting for this for nearly a week.

Not only Silas felt resentful but Alice wasn't happy either. Piss off, brother, it was me who invited him.

Emmett felt Alice gaze and met it head on, no fear. Come at me, little sister.

"Brother you don't know the pain of living here with these tech illiterates, not only is it a battle to get them to play games… but they also suck."

Silas looked at Emmett with a raised eyebrow, because behind him was Jasper who had just arrived, and he had a not so happy expression.

"Ohh~ brother, so I'm a tech illiterate?"

Emmett felt a chill down his spine, he turned his head and saw Jasper looking at him with an unpleasant expression.

"No, not you Jasper, I was talking about others."

Jasper scoffed and sat down next to him, Ella glanced at Jasper and smiled as she sat down next to him.

Jasper was annoyed, he was the one who was always forced to play with him.

He didn't dare urge Rosalie, Alice was just as uninterested, Edward was a sulker and even with a gun to his head it was impossible to make him engage.

As for Esme and Carlisle… forget it.

Emmett felt like he had weathered a storm. He looked over at Silas and motioned with his eyes.

Do you see what I have to live with brother?

Silas ignored him and looked at the food that was placed everywhere, then down at his own plate.

Lets see if the food lives up to its hype.

Silas was about to reach for the food when he felt a bunch of eyes on him.

The entire Cullen family looked at him like he was some rare specimen.

Silas felt slightly uncomfortable, he saw no plates in front of them.

"Are you not going to eat?"

They all looked at each other then shook their heads.

Carlisle spoke.

"We are all fasting."

Silas twitched his lips, ohh? Had I not known better I would have thought you were trying to drug me.

Are we this relaxed? Silas was thoughtful, this was really suspicious behavior, of course he knew they were vampires but they didn't know he knew.

So are they not worried I will get suspicious? Are they insulting my intelligence?

Silas was thinking fast. They definitely think I'm dumb, is it my handsome appearance? Do they think just because I'm handsome I can't be smart? Tsk, lucky for you, I'm starving… otherwise, hmph.

Silas was thinking the worst of them.

But the truth was far less sinister.

The Cullens knew Alice liked Silas, and they also knew what that meant.

Funny enough, the only ones who were in the dark were the two people in question.

And Alice just thought they were taking a risk for her and was grateful.

The Cullens on the other hand, knew that there was only a matter of time. Also, everyone, admitting it or not, kinda like Silas. They didn't think he was dangerous.

Silas reached for the wooden spoon and started to put food on his plate.

He took a little of everything. What he took the least of was rice, he didn't need staple food since the food was plenty.

After placing a small mountain on his plate, Silas picked up his utensils.

Hmm.

Silas looked at his fork and knife with a thoughtful expression. Would a spoon be better?

He looked up and saw Esme's eager expression and couldn't bear to ask for a spoon.

Silas looked at the plate and scooped up a big spoon of chicken cacciatore, without hesitation he shoved it in his mouth.

The room was silent, everyone was holding their breath… hehe, joke.

As Silas chewed the room's energy rose and fell. His next words and actions would decide everything.

Silas looked at the fork in his hand and swallowed, he licked his lips and looked up meeting everyone's gazes.

Even Edward was curious, he knew his mother loved cooking, but who knew if it was any good?

Esme steeled herself and was about to ask.

"It was good!" Silas said as a smile appeared on his face.

"Really good, he said as he scooped up another mouthful, and shoved it in his mouth.

The Cullens looked at each other and then back at Silas and smiled.

Good.

The happiest was of course Esme, but surprisingly the one who was second happiest was Alice.

She knew how much this meant to her mother, and just how much Silas's words weighed.

That Silas though it tasted good made her happy, she glanced at Silas and even stronger affection appeared on her face.

She thought for a second then she reached out with her foot and rubbed it against Silas's leg.

Silas was confused and looked over, he locked eyes with Alice and she smiled sweetly at him.

In Alice's eyes he saw an affection and gratefulness he hadn't seen before, he had known he and Alice were getting closer… but this?

Silas turned to look down at his food again, and scooped up another mouthful of food.

How scary.

He then looked up and glanced around the table, the Cullens looked at him with gratefulness… even the sulker Edward.

To be honest, he would have said the food tasted good as long as it was edible, he might have offered some suggestions, but this food he was eating now was just… heavenly.

The spices were balanced just right, the saltiness was perfect. The food also had this deep and rich flavour.

Even the rice was perfect.

As he ate he was sitting perfectly still, Alice had been keeping her leg in between his, and staring at him ever since he made his evaluation of the food.

He had tried to look anywhere but at her, he was mostly staring at his food, or at Emmett who was urging him to eat faster so we could play NFS underground 2.

Silas would have been annoyed otherwise but now? He was only grateful that he had an excuse to look in the opposite directions of Alice.

The Cullens were all having their own discussions, but they still saw the scene over here, especially Esme who had been paying extra attention.

She smiled and narrowed her eyes.

Friends? Alice, how naive.

Esme's evaluation of Silas was sky high, she was already planning on how to lay in the final push.
