Chapter 6 - Explain it to me

"The Heavenly Immortal has returned."

Those words finally struck some senses to Roy.

Memories flashed back like a flood, illuminating the last time he had visited the miniature world as a 500-metter tall giant.

He approached the kneeling people with a gentle, almost courteous voice.

"Do not be afraid," He said "i am here to help you."

He stepped forward in front of the two villager and soldier who were fighting over a dead rabbit.

"You two were bickering over a small rabbit earlier," He said, his voice calm and steady "now I have brought you food, there is no need to fight."

The villager and soldier that were kneeling slowly lifted their gaze, they glimpsed at the strange man's face, surely, it has the same face as that mysterious giant.

They lowered their gazes again, and spoke in an almost hurried, undisciplined tone.

"Great Benevolent Immortal, we can never dare to eat the food you have given us without your permission."

"Now you have my permission." Roy answered as his gaze swept across the kneeling masses "Cook the meat, distribute it fairly, and eat you fill."

"After your meal," he continued, " find someone to approach me to provide me some answers. There is plenty i need to ask."

The people immediately began cooking, some gathered firewoods, some went to fetch iron pots, some grabbed their knives and began chopping the slab of meat.

The women and elderly were in charge of the cooking, smokes rose toward the sky, pots boiled with water as meat were poured in while other pots were used to cook the remaining grain the villagers had preserved.

Roy took the extra time and stroll around the village. Wooden huts were empty, some doesn't have doors, some roofs were riddled with holes as if it were inviting a flood inside, blood and famine were visible everywhere.

He stiffened, as if wanting to cry on the spot.

"Clearly," He muttered to himself, voice shaking " disaster has ruled this place for quite some time."

Time had past, the village has finally finished eating their meal.

Soon, a villager went and searched for Roy.

They met at an abandoned hut, the villager slowly approached Roy and bowed on one knee.

Another villager appeared and brought a wooden chair, he lowered his gaze and offer it to Roy.

"Please, Heavenly Immortal, take a seat."

The villager gave the seat to Roy, and quickly dispersed among the crouds.

"I have many questions to ask," Roy asked, his expression calm and steady, " Answer them properly."

"Yes, heavenly Immortal" The villager answered.

"State your name." Roy said, casually waving his hand.

"This humble servant's name is Bah Long, I am the village chieftain's eldest son, my Fathers name is Bah Sok. Heavenly Immortal, you can ask anything onto this humble mortal."

"A few days earlier," Roy asked, his voices steady, yet it carried a faint trace of sadness, "when i first arrived at your village, this place was attacked by soldiers, explain."

"Then this humble servant will explain." Bah Long answered, "The soldiers who attacked our village wore the southern plains soldier uniform, but their tone sound like they came from the west."

"Bring the soldiers here, i want to ask them too."

Soon, a column of thin figures began marching toward Roy.

A bearded man stepped forward, his armor had a slight difference than the other soldiers, clearly, he is a ranked officer.

"State your name." Roy said, his voices suddenly turned serious

"My name is Sor Sogon."

" Why did you attacked this village? What was your purpose, and why did you end up here."

The soldier shuddered, his tone suddenly dropped.

"Actually, we're not soldiers at all."

When those words left his mouth, the entire villagers were stunned, even Roy was shocked.

"We were also villagers once, but when the civil war between the south and west reached the central plains, our region was mercilessly swept inside the chaos."

He paused, his voice dropped even more and he silently began sobbing.

"Countless villages and towns were burned, rations and livestock were stolen, wherever the southerners went, more village and towns were destroyed."

Roy sharpened his gaze.

"Then how did you end up here? Did you also defect to the south?"

Sor Sogon lowered his gaze, tears began streaming from his eyes.

"No we didn't," Sor Sogon replied, wiping his eyes with his dirty sleeve, "we managed to hide from the southerners cavalry, we escaped through the mountains and wondered endlessly. When we exited the mountains, we bump into a battlefield, we found southerners lying on the ground and stripped their armor."

When Sor Sogon spoke, somehow the dots became obvious. They wore southerner soldier uniforms but their tone and dialect were western.

Ah, so that's it.

Sor Sogon continued.

"We wondered around the central plains and end up here, but when we arrive, the villager suddenly attacked us, so we decided to fight back."

Everything he said clicked, turning the earlier chaos into an obvious misunderstanding.

No wonder you didn't leave.
