After Logan took out the beast, the soldiers were shocked, "W-What" the captain finally managed to let out.
Logan let them process through what just happened, "I suspect you don't want people to know about your power" the captain said after he settled down.
"I would be most grateful if that happened" Logan said, "I hope you understand I have to report this to your parents"
"Yes" he said reluctantly, "but can I negotiate with you"
"I'll listen" the captain said, "you'll tell them we met a strong opponent and I helped you out with magic. if you do that I will help you out with different jobs, including scouting"
"That's a good deal" said the soldiers, "I will accept, as long as you also teach me how to move like that".
"Just used magic to weigh myself down" Logan said simply, "but I can teach you how to improve your swordsmanship"
After they returned, and the captain reported what happened, his parents called him, "the captain reported you can use magic"
Yes" Logan said, trying his best to act like he's in trouble, "why didn't you tell us!" His parents said enthusiastically.
Logan acted shocked, "I thought it was bad, because I can't use light magic", "of course it's not bad" his mother said almost instantly.
"Oh! Then I will try my best to use light magic" he said acting enthusiastic.
After that confrontation he went out to the guard house, by the traning grounds.
"Are you ready to teach me" the captain said expectantly, "yes" Logan said sounding bored.
After that he knocked on Tess's door and opened it, he ran to hug her and so did she,"want to learn some more magic" Logan said excitedly, "of course" Tess said even more excitedly.
He did that routine for 2 years while also doing scouting for the guards when they didn't want to occompany him.
He got some good training during those trips, while every once and a while he was asked to join their practice with the guards.
And soon it was his fourteenth birthday.
(When kids turn 14 they are supposed to attend, either the martial arts school, or magic school.
Both of them were part of a bigger group, with a place to train soldiers in to knights, and a research center for mages. Some of them also have to go and do difficult requests for the guild.)
As he was packing up and checking what clothes looked good, he noticed he was above average in looks, so with magic he made his body less fit looking, and added freckles and more imperfections.
When he went downstairs toward the door his family memebers were waiting there.
"What did you do to your face!" he heard his older sister ask suprised, "I used magic" he said.
"why" his brother asked, "I thought I looked too good" Logan said while shrugging, "that's right no one can have him except me!" Tess said.
Logan was saying his goodbyes to everyone when Tess said, "I'll come next year!", "of course, keep up your practice so you can"
He waved goodbye to them as the carriage was rolling away.
