When they reached the capital Tess was asleep on his lap, so he decided to shake her awake to drop her off at the place where the entrance exam takes place. Logan went to the headmaster's office to try and officalize his attendance at the magic school.
"Nice to see you again Null" she said, "I suspect you're here for your classes and other stuff?" "Yes" Logan said simply, "but also for my sister to attend as well. She is one year younger than the normal age." "I can make that happen, just remember your promise" she said handing him papers, books, and a key for his new dorm room.
'Tess won't be done with the exam for another hour, I may as well look at my new room'. His room was similar to his last one, aside from the obvious new addition of a bath and a bigger bed. 'Why do they get a better room than the knights, that's so unfair' but he decided to not dwell on it longer, because 'it's mine now so what's to complain about'
It was about time for the exam to be over so he went to go get his sister. "They will post the results in a hour, so let's go get somthing to eat" Tess said to Logan as they met up. "Alright sounds good, what do you want".
They went into town and got some food, and a little while later went back to see her results.
"You got the top score! Good job Tess" Logan said while reaching out for a high five, "you should go get your room key."
When Tess got her key and they went to go move her stuff, Logan made a realization, his room was bigger than hers, at first he thought it was a normal room but it was a the top, and her room was near the bottom. The rooms at the top floor all were spaced apart farther and had the additional things, so it was probably because he showed his magic to the headmasters.
'Well that's a bonus' Logan thought shrugging. Soon they moved all their stuff into their rooms. School was going to start in a week so there was some time to be passed before it starts, Nick told Logan to see him on the first day so he probably wasn't going to be in town yet.
He didn't have a lot of books for the knight school, aside from the class to create commanders. The books were on magic theory, history, magic tools, and lastly a book for a mandatory class about how to correctly write reports, tomes, and grimoires called writing guide.
During the week he read the start of all the books but read almost all of the magic theory, he did also go out with his sister often. On the last day they were on their way to the cafe they found, and while they were chatting outside they saw Nick.
"Yo! Logan" Nick shouted, "oh, Nick how have you been" Logan said shocked, he thought he wouldn't see him til school started. "I'm going great how are you", as Logan and Nick continued Tess and the other girl catching up with Nick started talking.
"Are you his sister" the other girl said, "yeah what about you, are you his sister you look similar". "Yeah I'm his twin sister, that's Logan right" she said while pointing towards Logan. "Yes how did you know" Tess said suprised, "oh Nick talked a lot about him over the break".
"Hey! When are you going to introduce us" Nick's sister said, talking over them. "Oh right, Logan this is my twin sister, Grace" Nick said snapping out of it. "Oh. Nice to meet you Grace I'm Logan" he said suprised, but lowering his head to bow.
"Oh right. This is my sister Tess" Logan said introducing her. "Nice to meet you Nick, Logan hasn't said anything about you". Nick was suprised, "you didn't say anything about me!", "well they only asked me about school" Logan said while shrugging.
Would you like to join us" Tess said in a friendly but formal tone, "we would love to" Grace said in the same tone, while nudging Nick. "Yes we would love to join you"
When they sat down Nick asked, "has anyone ever asked why your sister looks more good looking than you?" "I assure you I'm perfectly good looking" Logan said in that same tone he uses when saying "I'm better than you". "He's not lying" Tess said backing him up.
They continued to talk about all kinds of things, until the subject came to Logan going to transfer into the magic school.
"You're going to transfer into the magic school, I go there. I hope we get into the same class" grace said excitedly, "that would be comforting, having someone I know in my class. Oh yeah Tess is also going to magic school as well!" "What!" They were both suprised, "isn't she 3 years younger than you?" Nick said, "yeah she is 13 one year early. She's a prodigy" that last part Logan said in that one tone. He was proud of his sister and in knowing he made her a prodigy.
"Why are you acting like you made her that prodigy?" Nick said, 'well because I did, but I don't want them to know'. "Because she's my sister" Logan said hugging Tess acting protective.
They grew pretty close really quickly, and so when the next day rolled around, Logan felt some relief that he had at least one friend in his year.
He went to the outside of his home room class, all the classrooms in the school were really big each one being able to seat 200 kids aside from the practical, and workshop classrooms.
When his teacher Mr Warner told him to come in, Logan was a little nervous because the main groups were already formed last year. He wasn't nervous for the normal reasons but because he didn't want to stand out, and if he introduced himself he would gain more eyes on him.
"This is Logan null" Mr Warner continued after he walked in, "he transferred here from the knight academy. Logan introduce yourself". "Hello I am Logan, and I am from the null family, my sister also starts here this year." Logan said with confidence, but barely noticeable on purpose. "Ok, you can sit down where ever you want".
In another perspective, "a transfer who do you think it is" a kid named iris said, "I think I know who it is" said Grace, after Mr Warner spoke a boy walked in, he was tall, had silvery white hair, and walked with an air of confidence.
" I knew it" iris heard grace say, "who is it" she whispered, "I'll introduce you in a bit". Iris thought that Logan was handsome and his strange confidence was attractive for her as well.
After the introduction ended grace waved over Logan." Hi grace, it's nice that a friend is in this class as well". "Yeah, this is my friend iris. Iris introduce yourself, sorry she's a little shy"
"Hi my names Logan nice to meet you" he bowed respectfully, in Iris's eyes Logan looked perfect, smiling so softly to some one he just met. "M-my names Iris,I-i'm from the t-tapois family" she struggled because she was focusing on his smile.
"I hope we can be friends" Logan said continuing to smile, then he sat down, commencing the start of home room.
Mr Warner explained that in this year there was going to be more practical classes, and that this year was also going to be no basic lessons aside from the new classes, Logan felt that this was a good thing because he wouldn't have to spend an entire year just focusing on the basics.
After class home room ended and Logan continued to get more comfortable with Iris and grace, a couple of girls walked up to Logan's desk. "Hey! Why did you transfer" the girl in the front said, "I'm sorry, I believe that introductions are supposed to go first. I am Logan null nice to meet you" he said while standing up and bowing, Logan figured he best not make any enemies.
"My name is Laina, I'm from the maple family" she said bluntly. "Can you answer my question now", "yes of course. I transferred because I found an interest in magic" he said smiling, Logan knew they were looking for trouble but he tried to act nice enough too try and avoid that.
"Well why didn't you stay there you look the part" laina said and the girls with her started laughing. "What magic can you use?" Logan said while smiling, but with a different tone. "I can use earth magic" she said, her smile wiped off her face, "but I have a lot of mana" she said, her smile returning back to her face.
"What kind of magic can you use?" Laina asked expecting nothing. To keep up his story Logan said "I can only use fire and light magic", " what not a lot of mana, I even have a lot of mana" she said walking away after.
"I thought you could use wind magic as well?" Grace said, "Nick told me you could". "I can I just don't want them to know" Logan said, "anyways we should get to our next classes.
