OLIVIA'S POV
The invitation sits on the kitchen counter like a bomb waiting to explode.
Olivia stares at it for the third time that morning. Charity Gala. Friday night. Black tie. The Kess Foundation is sponsoring. Which means Adrian will be there. Which means she has to be there. Which means she has to pretend to be something she's not in front of hundreds of people who probably know a lot more about Adrian Kess than she does.
She's been in his penthouse for two weeks.
Two weeks of making breakfast. Two weeks of him saying thank you and leaving. Two weeks of hearing that sad jazz music from her room at night and knowing he can probably hear it too. Two weeks of notes that say terrible things and somehow mean everything.
Now she has to walk into a room full of powerful people and act like she's supposed to be on his arm.
"This is insane," she mutters to herself.
"What's insane?" Adrian's voice comes from behind her.
