The corridor looked normal again, but none of them felt normal. The lights were steady, the walls unbroken, yet a strange heaviness stayed in the air like something unseen was still watching. Aarav sat quietly against the wall, his eyes fixed on the dark mark on his wrist. It wasn't glowing now, but it didn't feel dead either. It felt like something was waiting… something that could wake up again at any moment.
A few steps away, Meera stood still, observing him closely. There was no fear in her eyes—only sharp focus. She wasn't looking at Aarav like a friend right now. She was studying him like a problem that needed to be solved. Rayan, on the other hand, couldn't stand still. He kept pacing, running his hand through his hair, clearly trying to process everything.
"Okay… so let me get this straight," Rayan finally said, breaking the silence. "A crack appears out of nowhere, a shadow creature walks out like it owns the place, Aarav fights it like some superhero, and now he has a dark mark that reacts to… I don't even know what. This is insane."
"This isn't something we joke about," Meera said calmly, without looking at him.
"I'm not joking," Rayan replied, his voice more serious now. "I'm trying not to freak out."
Aarav slowly looked up. "I didn't mean for that to happen," he said quietly. "It felt like… I wasn't fully in control. Like something else was pushing me."
Meera stepped closer. "Exactly," she said. "And that's the danger. You don't control it yet."
Aarav's expression tightened. "So what? I just ignore it?"
"No," Meera said instantly. "You learn to control it before it controls you."
Her words hit hard. Aarav looked at the mark again, clenching his fist slightly. He didn't like the idea of something inside him having power over him. Not even a little.
Rayan stopped pacing. "Alright, so what's the plan? Because standing here thinking isn't going to help."
Meera took a breath, her mind clearly already working ahead. "We test it," she said.
Aarav frowned. "Test it?"
"Yes," she continued. "We need to understand how it works. What triggers it, how strong it is, and how much control you actually have. Right now, it's unpredictable—and that makes it dangerous."
"Dangerous for who?" Rayan asked.
Meera looked directly at Aarav. "For everyone."
Silence fell again. This time, heavier than before.
After a few seconds, Aarav stood up. "Fine," he said. "Tell me what to do."
Meera nodded. "Focus on the mark. Don't just look at it—try to feel it. But don't let it take over."
Aarav raised his hand slowly, his eyes locking onto the dark symbol. He took a deep breath and concentrated. For a moment, nothing happened. Then suddenly, the mark gave a faint pulse.
A cold sensation spread through his arm. Aarav stiffened slightly. "I feel it," he said.
"What kind of feeling?" Meera asked immediately.
"Cold… but powerful," Aarav replied. "Like something is… awake inside."
"Stay in control," Meera said firmly. "Don't let it grow."
The pulse grew stronger. Aarav's breathing became heavier. A faint whisper echoed in his mind, trying to pull his focus away. His grip tightened.
"No…" Aarav muttered. "Not this time."
Rayan stepped back slightly. "This looks familiar… and not in a good way."
"Stay back," Meera said sharply.
The mark suddenly darkened. For a second, Aarav's body tensed like he was about to lose control again. The same energy from before started building.
"Aarav!" Meera shouted. "Focus on yourself. Not the power. You control it!"
Aarav shut his eyes tightly, forcing himself to breathe slowly. The whisper grew louder, but this time he didn't give in. He held on. Second by second, the energy weakened.
Then… it stopped.
Aarav lowered his hand, breathing heavily but still standing firm.
Rayan blinked in surprise. "Okay… that's new. You didn't go full beast mode this time."
Aarav let out a tired breath. "It wasn't easy."
Meera gave a small nod. "Good. That means you can control it—at least a little."
"At least a little?" Rayan repeated. "That doesn't sound comforting."
"It's not," Meera said. "But it's a start."
Aarav looked at her. "And if I lose control next time?"
Meera didn't hesitate. "Then we make sure you don't hurt anyone."
The bluntness of her answer shocked Rayan, but Aarav didn't react the same way. He understood what she meant. Slowly, he nodded.
Before anyone could say anything else, Rayan's device suddenly beeped loudly.
All three of them turned toward it.
Rayan looked at the screen, his face going serious instantly. "Guys… this is not good."
"What happened?" Meera asked.
He turned the device toward them. Multiple signals were flashing—far more than before.
Meera's eyes narrowed. "That's not just one…"
Aarav felt the mark on his wrist pulse again, reacting to something unseen.
Rayan swallowed. "Yeah… looks like we've got more coming."
