No one moved.
No one breathed.
Because he was there.
Alive.
Standing right in front of us.
"That's not possible…" Emily whispered.
But it was.
We were looking at him.
No shadows.
No tricks.
Real.
Ryan took a step back.
Just one.
But that was enough.
Because Ryan Blake…
Never stepped back.
"You…" Ryan said, his voice low
"…I killed you."
The words hung in the air.
Heavy.
Ugly.
And then—
He smiled.
"You really believe that?" he asked.
My heart was pounding so loud I could barely hear anything else.
"How are you alive?" Noah asked, almost choking on the words.
He didn't answer immediately.
Instead…
He looked at each of us.
One by one.
And when his eyes landed on me—
They stopped.
"You want the truth?" he said quietly.
No one answered.
Because we all did.
But none of us were ready for it.
"You left me there," he began.
Flash.
Rain.
Mud.
"I couldn't move," he continued.
"I couldn't speak."
My chest tightened.
"But I could hear you."
Emily covered her mouth.
"I heard the panic…"
"I heard the fear…"
His voice didn't shake.
It was controlled.
Too controlled.
"And then…" he paused
"…I heard him."
Silence.
Ryan froze.
"I felt his hands on me," he continued.
"Checking if I was breathing."
My stomach twisted.
"He knew."
The word hit like a knife.
"He knew I was alive," he said.
All eyes turned to Ryan.
"You're lying," Ryan snapped.
Am I?
"You looked at me," he said softly
"right into my eyes."
Ryan didn't move.
Didn't speak.
And that silence…
Said everything.
"You could've helped me," he continued.
"You could've saved me."
My hands were shaking now.
"But instead…"
He took a step forward.
"You made a choice."
Emily started crying.
"No… no, that's not—"
"Don't," he cut her off.
"Don't pretend you didn't know what kind of person he is."
Silence.
Because deep down…
We all knew.
"What did you do?" I asked Ryan.
My voice barely came out.
"What did you do?!"
Ryan finally looked at me.
And for the first time…
There was no control.
No arrogance.
Just something broken.
"I fixed it," he said.
"That's not an answer!"
"I ended it!" he snapped.
The cafeteria fell silent around us.
People were watching now.
But none of that mattered.
"Say it," I said.
Ryan clenched his jaw.
"I made sure he wouldn't get back up."
Emily cried harder.
Noah turned away.
And me?
I felt like I couldn't breathe.
"You watched me die," he said.
That line…
That line broke something inside me.
"I didn't know…" I whispered.
"But you didn't stay," he replied.
Silence.
Because that was the truth.
"I begged," he continued.
"In my head… I was screaming."
My vision blurred.
"But you were already gone."
Emily dropped into the chair behind her.
"This isn't real…"
"Oh, it is," he said.
His voice dropped.
"And that's not even the worst part."
My heart stopped.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
A slow smile crossed his face.
"The worst part…" he said quietly
"…is that I didn't die there."
Silence.
Cold.
"What?"
"I woke up again," he continued.
"Later."
That didn't make sense.
"How?"
"I don't know," he said.
"Maybe I got lucky."
No.
That wasn't luck.
That was something else.
"I dragged myself out of there," he said.
Every word…
Felt heavy.
"Alone."
Emily started shaking.
"Stop…"
"No," he said.
"You don't get to stop this."
He looked at all of us again.
"I lived with it," he said.
"The pain. The memory."
His eyes darkened.
"And the truth."
"What truth?" Noah asked quietly.
Silence.
And then—
"That I wasn't the only one who wanted that night to happen."
Everything froze.
"What?" I said.
"You think this was just a mistake?" he asked.
No one answered.
Because now…
We weren't sure anymore.
"You think everything that happened…"
"…just happened?"
My chest tightened.
"Then you're still blind."
Silence.
Because that changed everything.
Again.
"This wasn't an accident," he said.
My heart started racing.
"Then what was it?" I asked.
He looked straight at me.
And said:
"It was a setup."
Everything broke.
"What?" Emily whispered.
"You were all part of it," he said.
"Whether you knew it… or not."
My head started spinning.
"No…"
"Ask yourselves," he continued
"why that night happened the way it did."
Silence.
Because now…
Nothing made sense anymore.
And maybe…
It never did.
🖤 Poem — Unknown
I screamed in silence
while you walked away
I died in your shadow
but refused to stay
and the truth you buried…
is coming to play
