The base no longer felt empty. The silence that once filled its halls had changed into something else, something heavier, like it was waiting for the final pieces to arrive. Elisa stood near the central screen her eyes fixed on the map while Jenny moved around restlessly and Zoe remained still watching everything with quiet focus.
The seven points on the screen were still glowing. Three of them were already here. Four were getting closer.
Adrian stood beside the system and said they are not far now. Mira checked the readings again and confirmed it. Rayan leaned back slightly and said things were about to get interesting. Selene said nothing but her attention stayed on the entrance. Leo looked a little tense as if he was unsure how the next moment would unfold.
Then the signal changed. One of them had arrived. A sound echoed through the entrance as the system activated. Everyone turned toward it. The door slowly opened and a boy stepped inside. He looked around with confusion but also determination. It was Stebin Ben.
He paused for a second taking in everything around him. His eyes moved across the room and then stopped on the others. He noticed Elisa first then Jenny and Zoe and finally the scientists. He said nothing but his expression showed that he already knew something was not normal.
Before anyone could speak another signal reached the base.
Kevin Matthew entered next. His steps were slower and more careful as if he was analyzing everything. He looked at the room then at the people and finally at his own hand where the ring rested. He did not ask questions yet but his silence carried curiosity. Moments later Louis Kang arrived. He moved with more confidence than the others but his eyes still searched for answers. He looked at Stebin and Kevin and then at the three girls. For a second he seemed surprised but then he understood.
Jake Andres was the last one. He entered quickly almost as if he had been rushing without knowing why. The moment he stepped inside he stopped and looked around. His gaze met the others one by one until he realized the truth.
